Thursday

See how much fun paper plates can be??

When my Dad came to the house this morning to pick the girls up to go to the library, he sat in his vehicle for a minute answering a text message o checking the weather or something. Macy crept outside with this mask on, got about an inch from the driver's side window, and stared at him until he looked up. He about jumped out of his skin when he realized she was standing there. Of course, Macy thought this was just hilarious! It IS a bit freaky, if you ask me... Going to see Mother Goose is always a highlight of the week for the girls. The girls drew pictures to take to her today...
If you are local and know Mother Goose, you'll know that this is just about exactly what she looks like!!I had a little mishap tonight. I was putting away dishes from the clean side of the sink, and I laid one of Macy's melamine plates (you know my love for personalized melamine plates!) on top of my big pot...and to my horror, it slipped in the pot. And when I tell you that plate was stuck, I mean that plate was stuck. Jason and I tried and tried to get the plate out...even tried "boiling" it out. That plate was stuck so tight down in that pot that we couldn't even wedge a thin paring knife down the side. So it came down to the pot or the plate. I know, the pot is just a thing, and the plate is just a thing. But the pot was my Nana's (and it is a very good boiling pot!), but the plate was Macy's. Boo. The pot won. The plate had to be busted up into pieces...sniff sniff. And I cannot remember for the life of me where the plate came from. Oh well, Macy has plenty more *Ü*

On a little bit of a happier note (although I guess if and when we use them, that will mean somebody's got a boo-boo), aren't these the cutest band-aids you have ever seen??

I may even need an excuse to wear one of these!!

Another Rainy Day

Today was another rainy day (hence the goofy lighting in all my pictures!). We were talking about the rain we have had during Bible Study/Prayer Time tonight. We have several farmers in our church, and they were just praising the Lord for the rain...and the timeliness of it. The rain yesterday came a day earlier than expected, and one farmer said that 24 hours made such a huge difference...as in, many crops will not be lost that would have been lost had it not rained Tuesday, even though it rained today.

The girls jumped on the trampoline a little early this morning before the rain, then it was inside for the rest of the day. Although it did not rain ALL day, the skies were threatening, so we played it safe and found indoor activities. We went through our craft box and found lots of fun stuff to do. Amazing what you can do with paper plates, yarn, scissors, foam, and glue.

The girls made masks and foam food for their American Girl dolls. See the chocolate chip cookies and oreoes in the bottom left corner...
The "babushka" dolls and birdhouse were things we picked up at Hobby Lobby after Lucy's booster shot appointment. They are works in progress, so we worked on those a little today too. Since our table was covered in all things crafty, the girls had lunch in the playroom...

And thanks to my niece, Tatum, we have a new favorite snack...Ritz Crackerfuls. They are so yummy! If I remember correctly, my blogger friend Nonny did a giveaway on these a little while back.

We also made Jello Jigglers (Jennifer P...my girls have talked about these nonstop since you made them for our day at the water park!).

And funfetti cookies...

I don't know if I have blogged about these Magnetic Mosaics, but they are a lot of fun for kids and really cute...and a GREAT rainy day activity!! Lucy got this set for Christmas, but I know Hobby Lobby carries them.

Macy's parrot...pictures compliments of Lucy...

Lucy was fretful that church would be cancelled because of the weather. Fortunately, it did not get that bad, so church services went on as normal. She came home with this picture that she drew in Mission Friends...

I asked her to explain the picture to me, and this is what she said...

"Mama, it is you and Daddy standing there, and that is Jesus in the cloud. It's the day Jesus comes back to take us to heaven."

She has had this on her mind lately. The other day, she excitedly came running in the kitchen, and we had this conversation...

LUCY: "Mama, do you know that we are going to hear trumpets when Jesus comes?"

ME: "Yes, Lucy. You are right. We will hear trumpets when Jesus comes."

LUCY: "I listen for trumpets all the time. I am ready to see Jesus."

Bless.her.heart.

I hope you are having a happy week!

Rainy Tuesday

For the first *official* day of summer, we had a rainy, rainy day today...which was really nice, being that we haven't had much rain in the last month or two. The fields around us were getting so dry, so I know the farmers are very thankful. I love a rainy day at home. The wind did get a bit scary at one point...we looked out back and saw a piece of our fince blow down. Thankfully, though, that only lasted a few minutes, and the rest of the day was just rain, rain, rain.

Back when I was expecting Lucy, I drank a gallon of water a day. And did so for a long time after she was born. Although now, I may not always get a gallon in every day (that is a LOT of water in a day!), I do get at least a half a gallon. I will sometimes add fresh lemon and a tad of Splenda just to change things up. And drinking from a cute cup always helps... The girls got a little ornory today. They protested and protested when I told them they needed to lay down and take a nap. However 5 minutes later, this is what I found... I tackled my junk drawer today. I don't know if everybody has a junk drawer or not, but I don't know what I would do without mine. I had decided that I was going to get in there and throw away most of it. It is all really useless junk.
But when I got to cleaning, there was just no way I could junk the ginormous googly eyes that my kids have so much fun with, the lone Chucky Cheese coin (just in case we ever go back) or the oddly shaped safety pins and paper clips. And heaven forbid I away the 300 ponytail holders I found in there. So I just organized the junk and straightened it up a bit. Probably doesn't look like I did much, but it made a huge difference to me! And I started on my next project for my front doors to replace the cupcakes...I have more work to do on them, but here's the start. Are you surprised that they are crosses??

Lucy noticed this little critter stuck to the back of one of the cupcakes on our front door. Bless him...trying to get some shelter from the rain...

While the nap was good for Macy and Lucy this afternoon, they are showing NO signs of going to bed anytime soon. How I love the days and nights of summer! It looks like we are in for another rainy day tomorrow. Maybe I will get my crosses finished and clean something else out *Ü*

Monday, Monday

I had big plans for today. Plans to get ALL of my ironing done (I had TONS to do!). Keep in mind...I am majorly OCD when it comes to my laundry. My mother-in-law and I were talking about this just yesterday. I have to fold laundry while it is still hot...straight out of the dryer...no piles of clothes laying around needing to be folded for me. Piles of wrinkled clothes make me itch. No lie. Most everything we have except pajamas and underwear gets washed on the delicate cycle and hung to dry. I just have a thing...a weird thing...but nevertheless, this is how I do it. And the ironing...I know, a lot of you are thinking I must waste a lot of time ironing. I have been told ironing is a thing of the past. Not for me! Nothing goes in the closets wrinkled. It must be ironed BEFORE it gets put up. I have said before, and I will say it again, I seriously love to iron. I love to have a day where I just iron. Today was that day. I needed to get caught up, so I found things for the girls to do as I ironed. Of course, they were right under my feet the entire time, as I set up my ironing board in the the den, but I got it all done. All that is hanging in my laundry room drying now is what they wore yesterday...

And the turquoise cardigan I wore over my dress to church yesterday (which now that I am looking at this picture, you can't see it). A cardigan in a hundred degree weather, you say? I also have OCD about that. I do not like my arms. I am way more comfortable in long sleeves or 3/4 length sleeves than short sleeves or...heaven forbid...sleeveless...gasp! But you know, it is funny, I was looking at a picture of myself just tonight over at my friend Angela's house (it was a picture taken at her wedding reception)...I had a sleeveless dress on, and I did not look bad. I mean, I am not going to say I looked GOOD, but I don't even understand my own obsession with not showing my arms. They laugh at church about my longsleeve white t-shirts that I wear under EVERYTHING. And my denim jacket is "fluffing" in the dryer right now. I'd rather have sweat pouring off of me than show my arms. I get that I am weird...really, I do...but it does not make me want to show my arms. Moving on...I told Jason for whatever reason last night that I thought today was not going to be a good day. I think it was because the girls were arguing nonstop last night. I just had a feeling. Well...they proved me totally wrong. They were angels today, bless their little hearts. They colored and played and drew pictures...never fussed or complained...except for when they were hungry *Ü*

I love Lucy's drawing of Disney World...

Puppy paper dolls...so much fun...

My sweet girls...
We had some storms pop up, so it has been one of those cozy nights to be inside (it is not severe weather, thank goodness). I am listening to this on youtube and watching my little one "play" her mac & cheese violin along to the song. If you are or ever were a Guns N Roses fan, you must listen to it. Mr. Hal, I am talking to you *Ü*

My buzzer just buzzed...got to go fold a load of *hot* clothes!!

Our Weekend

I have been a bit of a slacker blogger lately! Really, not much has been going on...we had miscellaneous appointments last week...booster shots (oh.my.word), haircuts, etc.

The booster shots...holy cow...Lucy begged me ALL the way to Tupelo to homeschool her. It was pitiful. Honestly, I think I would love to homeschool her to keep her at home. Ya'll know she is my shadow and to think of her not being at home everyday all day is about to kill me! But I know it is for the best for her, and we love our school. We are at a Christian school where there is no gray...if something is questionable, it is not in the school, and I love that.

So Friday, we had a celebrity visitor in our home. Ruby Jane Smith. She is a 16 year old AMAZING musician. The girls and I saw her perform a few years ago, and I was in awe. Macy and Lucy were both in awe and have been singing her songs ever since (especially "I don't love nobody and nobody loves me"...it is very funny!!). Macy will sit for hours watching youtube videoes of Ruby Jane...we love her! Our precious friend, Olivia, and Ruby Jane have been best of friends all their lives. Olivia wanted the girls to meet Ruby Jane, so they came over to our house. We had the most fun visit!! Of course you know we love Olivia, and we think Ruby Jane is just precious. I was delighted that she made herself right at home!!
Friday night, my sister made a fast surprise visit into town. She is in the middle of moving from Baton Rouge back to Texas, so she headed this way to drop off / pick up some things. We decided to have dinner for Father's Day that night since she was home.
My Dad and all his grandkids...

Saturday, we had Lucy's end-of-the-year teeball party (I think teeball may be t-ball, but I like teeball better). We had a swimming party and supper...it was so much fun! The kids each got a trophy and a medal. Lucy was ALL about that!

Lucy with Carson and all her coaches...Coach Pepe, Coach Daddy, and Coach Uncle Brent...

Jason's brother and his family were also in town over the weekend. Erin is better than me and took TONS of pictures all weekend long. She will have some on her blog before too long I am sure (hint hint) *Ü*

Happy Father's Day to J...the best Daddy in the world!!

Happy Father's Day to my Daddy and Mr. Hal (my father-in-law) as well. I am so blessed to have such wonderful fathers in my life.

And because I cannot resist the cuteness...
That is Jason when he was 3 years old. The girls were digging through some old pictures of mine a little while ago and came across this one. I love it so much!

Hope you all had a happy weekend!

Fun With Friends & Last TeeBall Game

My friend, Jennifer Pounders, invited us to join her and her kids for a day at the Guin Water Park. I never knew there was a water park in Guin, Alabama. It was a very nice park...a huge swimming pool and a fun water slide...all right together...Jennifer and I could sit at the pool and easily see the kids on the slide.

Lucy was so excited that she was FINALLY big enough to do the big girl slide...

Evan Pounders would NOT let me take his picture the whole day. I thought I would sneak one in on them and get a picture of him coming down the slide. No luck. He flipped himself around backwards right at the bottom. Ha! Emma Kate Pounders...the girl is a precious little miss priss... Macy having a blast... The girls... I am so thankful for sweet friends to spend fun summer days with!!

We got home and headed to Lucy's last teeball game. I know, I know, you aren't supposed to swim on a gameday, but this is teeball, you know.

Pardon the crazy amounts of pictures from the evening, but I took tons since it was the last game.

Reminds me of her Daddy...

I heart this one...the squinty eyes and all. Reminds me of me...

So cute...

Last bat of the season, and a hug from Coach Uncle Brent...

Pep talk from Coach Daddy on 1st base...
And she scores...

Running back to the dugout (with her buddy, Hayes Murphree in the background)...

We had a super fun teeball season. Lucy loved it way more than I expected her to!!

I am so thankful for a fun and safe teeball season!!
